Honda Unveils New CB500 in India with 501cc Single-Cylinder Engine

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has unveiled the all-new CB500, expanding its CB lineup with a new modern-retro motorcycle. The model draws design inspiration from the iconic CB750 and will be manufactured locally in India.

The CB500 adopts Honda's 'Retro Sporty' design language, featuring a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, wide handlebar and a minimalist roadster profile.

While it shares similarities with the smaller CB350, the larger proportions, revised bodywork and new fuel tank graphics give it a distinct identity. Chrome accents and brushed aluminium engine covers further complement its retro styling.

Powering the motorcycle is a new 501cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 27.76bhp and 43.3Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox and comes equipped with an assist and slipper clutch.

The CB500 is offered with a range of modern features including Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, an analogue-digital instrument cluster, all-LED lighting, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), dual-channel ABS and disc brakes at both ends.

Suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic front forks with fork gaiters and twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers. The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front wheel, while Honda will offer three variants. The base model gets alloy wheels, whereas the two higher variants are equipped with tubeless cross-spoke wheels.

Honda has confirmed that the CB500 will be manufactured in India and retailed through its BigWing dealership network. The company is yet to announce pricing and booking details, although the motorcycle is expected to go on sale during the festive season.

The CB500 becomes the flagship model in Honda India's CB range and enters a growing premium retro motorcycle segment, where it is expected to compete with other middleweight modern-classic offerings.
